Families Growing in Faith: Prayer (3/25/20)

March 25, 2020

Theme: Prayer

EXPLANATION:

Read this next section as a family:
Prayer is the act of spending time with God. Prayer can include prayer of blessing or adoration, prayer of petition, prayer of intercession, prayer of thanksgiving, and prayer of praise. It is important for us to spend time in prayer with God to build a relationship with Him.
God is always with us. He wants us to talk to him and to listen to him. In prayer we raise our hearts and minds to God. We are able to speak to and listen to God because, through the Holy Spirit, God teaches us how to pray. God loves us and always wants the best for us.

QUESTION:

Ask your child(ren):
What types of prayer are there?
(Mass, Adoration, Stations of the Cross, our Catholic prayers [Hail Mary, Glory Be, etc.], the Rosary, talking to God [internally or out loud], Lectio Divina [praying with the Bible], asking God for something [prayer of petition or intercession], thanking God [prayer of thanksgiving], praising God [prayer of praise], serving with a prayerful heart, being in nature with a prayerful heart, listening to Christian music with a prayerful heart, asking the Saints to pray for us, etc…)
What is your favorite way to pray?
What prayer would you like to try?
(Research the prayer type your child(ren) would like to try and do it together as a family once this week.)
